The SEP instead advocates that workers form rank-and-file committees, and that seems like just as viable a way of advancing workers' interests. It just seems odd to me that this subreddit would ban a major Trotskyist organisation; or rather, that the viability of unions would be something that's not up for debate- especially nowadays, given the corruption scandals that have mired the UAW union, among others. I don't think that this question was a central component of Trotsky's theories, so I don't see why it is so important here. If unions are progressive organizations that fight for workers' interests, can you please give me some examples of industries in the US, whose workers are better off now than they were 10 years ago, as a result of progressive actions their unions have taken? On your second point- that they defend wealthy rapists- can you please provide a source? They must initiate the forming of trades unions where these do not exist. All voluntary withdrawals from the industrial movement, every artificial attempt to organise special unions, without being compelled thereto by exceptional acts of violence on the part of the trade union bureaucracy such as the expulsion of separate revolutionary local branches of the unions by the opportunist officials, or by their narrow-minded aristocratic policy, which prohibits the wiskilled workers from entering into the organisation - represents a great danger to the Communist movement. It threatens to hand over the most advanced, the most conscious workers to the opportunist leaders, playing into the hands of the bourgeoisie" The SEP not only argues for separate unions of different names but also outright opposes unions. “Bolshevization”: A Moscow import to the American CP This flexibility is fundamentally different from what became the organizational model of the American communist movement. By extension, the Trotskyist movement inherited these principles, starting with the American Socialist Workers Party (SWP-US). American Trotskyism can trace its roots to 1928, when James P. Cannon, Max Shachtman, and others broke from the American Communist Party upon reading and sharing Trotsky’s writings on the Russian Revolution’s degeneration. Many Trotskyists have rightly celebrated our principled stand against Stalinist distortions. But this stand was four or five years after the world communist movement’s degeneration had already begun — under Grigory Zinoviev. Before this, American communism’s factional atmosphere had trained the future leaders of the Trotskyist movement, just as much as the Stalinists, in bureaucratic practices for securing leadership. Cannon noted later that “allegiance to communism and to the party gave way, gradually and imperceptibly, to allegiance to the faction-gang.”14 The fights between William Z. Foster, Jay Lovestone, John Pepper, Cannon and others sharpened the skills Trotskyists would later use in their own factional battles. These examples challenge the perceived organizational principle of a monolithic, militaristic party. The question shifts from “is breaking discipline permissible?” to “under what context is breaking discipline permissible?” What were the roots of this factionalism? It came from lessons taught in the Socialist Party of America (SP), where many future Communist leaders had first been SP left-wingers. Like the Socialist Labor Party (described in Part One of this series), the SP’s lack of collective leadership, the mass membership’s low political level, and the entrenched divide between reformists, centrists and revolutionaries bred conflict and personalism. The control of the apparatus came to be seen as key for the political direction of the party — and key for fighting factional opponents. The “big tent” led to the same bureaucratic methods many now reject. Stories abound. In 1908, the right-wing-controlled National Executive Committee rejected the application of Alfred Wagenknecht, a West Coast Left-SP party organizer, for national organizer on openly ideological grounds.15 Charles Ruthenburg, later a leader of his own faction in the CP, tried to introduce an amendment in the 1912 Socialist Party convention only to have the convention chairman, a member of the SP’s right wing, deny its introduction.16 As Ira Kipnis describes: “The Socialist civil war quickly developed a pattern of expulsions, campaigns for control of key committees, formation of dual state and local organizations, and intervention by the Right-wing national office. In some of the local organizations the controversies were so prolonged, involved, and bitter that it is almost impossible to distinguish between various factions.”17 By the time these SP left-wingers became newly-minted communists, they had developed a taste and skill for factional warfare. First, a political struggle took place between those seeking to organize a public-facing party against those who believed organizing underground and in secret was a point of principle. But in a few short years, as James P. Cannon writes, “the new factional alignments began to take shape, and the struggle for ‘control of the party,’ which was to last for six years… was under way.”18 In 1923, Pepper “ran the party with an iron hand… he ‘politicalized’ the party to beat hell, and influenced his opponents almost as much as his supporters.”19 A sympathizer and friend of Trotsky in New York, Ludwig Lore, came under fire as the leader of a “non-Communist tendency” in the new party.20 In 1925, Ruthenburg and Jay Lovestone charged new leaders Foster and Cannon as carrying on a “relentless policy of suspensions, disciplinary [actions] and expulsion of the opposition,” while Foster and Cannon alleged that the “Minority is encouraging gross violations of discipline and in propagating the idea of a split in the Party.”21 Foster declared that in the faction fight with Ruthenburg’s group his character had “been assassinated in every conceivable form, even to that of my being called a thief.”22 Meanwhile, then-Foster loyalists Shachtman and William F. Dunne had “barricaded themselves in the Daily Worker editorial offices, refusing entry to Ruthenburg supporters, including… the paper’s co-editor.” Such was the schooling our ancestors received — lessons they would carry with them through future struggles. Factionalism had taught these leaders how to attack opponents and jockey for power. Zinoviev’s “Bolshevization” campaign put forward the monolithic party (run by a single set of unified leaders) as the supposed alternative. Next, the factional atmosphere in the CPUSA created fertile ground for party despotism to take seed as an apparent (but false) solution starting in 1924. Masked as “Bolshevism,” this degenerative bureaucratism consolidated the “monolithic party” idea — banning factions and preventing any dissent (especially public dissent). As part of Russia’s creep towards Stalinism over the 1920s, the international organization of Communist Parties (Comintern, based in Russia) turned advisement into unquestioning acceptance of its Russian leaders’ lines. This, in turn, clamped down on the space to question national leaderships too. At the Fifth Comintern Congress and under pressure from Zinoviev’s leadership, one Communist party after another, from the United States to Japan, testified they “really weren’t Communist” but tainted with social-democratic politics and organizational methods.23 The resulting campaign to “Bolshevize” turned these parties into pliant agents of Stalinist foreign policy, thoroughly hostile to democratic control from below. Factionalism had taught these leaders how to attack opponents and jockey for power. Zinoviev’s “Bolshevization” campaign put forward the monolithic party (run by a single set of unified leaders) as the supposed alternative. Though the Trotskyist movement did more to move beyond Stalinism’s simple catechisms and hosannas, the imprint of Zinoviev’s “Bolshevization” campaign remained. These assumptions were largely imported into the American Trotskyist movement by its main founder, Cannon, and others like Shachtman who served as lieutenants in his faction in the American Communist Party. After all, Cannon was known in the CP of the 1920s as the “Captain of Bolshevization.” In his view in 1924, a Bolshevik party: “Must be a centralized party prohibiting factions, tendencies, and groups. It must be a monolithic party… Our party [CPUSA] has been plagued with factions, tendencies and groups. At least one-half of the energy of the party has been expended in factional struggles, one after another. We have grown into the habit of accepting this state of affairs as a normal condition.”24 Twenty years later, the campaign to “Bolshevize” the American CP still served as a reference point. In Cannon’s assessments, absence reveals more than what he mentions explicitly. In his First Ten Years of American Communism, he says: “In spite of all, Zinoviev deserves restoration as one of the great hero-martyrs of the revolution… The lasting personal memory I have of him is of his patient and friendly efforts in 1925 to convince both factions [of the CPUSA] of the necessity of party peace and cooperation, summed up in his words to [William Z.] Foster which I have mentioned before: ‘Frieden ist besser’ (‘Peace is better’).”25 Only once did he make a critical appraisal of Zinovievism. As he said in a letter in the mid-1960s: “Probably the hardest lesson I had to learn from Trotsky, after ten years of bad schooling through the Communist Party, was to let organizational questions wait until the political questions at issue were fully clarified, not only in the National Committee but also in the ranks of the party.”26 Until then, he believed the Stalinized Comintern merely “fed the flames of factionalism in order to fish in the troubled waters to create its own Stalinist faction.” By the time of his reevaluation, how much Zinovievism had he unconsciously imparted? When did the germs slip in, indeed?

There is additionally a theory that Columbus heard the word “Ameriqque” from the native Caribbeans who used it to describe mountains on the mainland. And even the Mayans get credit for America in some anthropological circles as the word apparently means “ a country of perpetually strong wind” or “Land of the Wind” in the Mayan language. Whatever the origin of the word, we need to look at what it has come to mean today. As other empires of the last two centuries have fallen or become reorganized, America is due for a reinvention. The word “America” is a reminder of the time when condescending European conquerors felt the world at large was a place populated by primitives, and it was the duty of an enlightened European to colonize it at often barbaric costs. The country of the United States of America has in its DNA a collective forgetting of what it has done to its Native American population, the ongoing pain of its history of slavery, the hard and often dark choices it has had to make to fight the Cold War and emerge as the world’s preeminent (and often disliked) superpower. It is time to reclaim and rebrand this land by giving it a new name. What kind of name could it be? One approach would be to take its name from the people who have inhabited it before the European colonization. As the recent renaming of Mt. McKinley to its original Koyukon name Denali has shown, such an approach can get traction. However, as there have been countless indigenous people with different languages living on this land, it could be hard to choose which native word to use. I am partial to “Turtle Island”, a very friendly kind of name. Who would want to attack Turtle Island? It sounds like a very friendly place. Other ideas: Maka (the Lakota word for “Earth”), States of Free People, Niceland, the Land of Awesome Individuals (LAI), New World, or something created, without clear connotations, like Momappo. I am sure we can put our collective energies together and figure this out (thanks in advance, Internet). We could use a fresh start. The United States of America s also called the United States of Central Turtle Island, United States of Turtle Island, United States of Maka, United States of Free Peopleland, United States of Niceland, the Land of Awesome Individuals/LAI), United States of the New World, United States of Momappo.

Spotted Turtle (Clemmys guttata) COSEWIC Status: Vulnerable, COSSARO Status: Endangered The Spotted Turtle is a small turtle. It is easily identified by the bright yellow spots, to which it owes its name, found on its smooth black carapace. The plastron (or bottom shell) is also bright yellow or orange with a black spot on each scute (or plate). The Spotted Turtle is distributed throughout southern Ontario but in limited numbers and in isolated populations. This turtle frequents shallow marshes and bogs, so it is of little surprise that this species is no longer found in such an urban city. Unfortunately, the cute, colourful Spotted Turtle is prized for the pet trade, so poaching is an additional factor contributing to the scarcity of this species.

Wikipedia firebrand The main enemy is at home The ruling classes of the region are not without blame. Some, like Egypt’s Sisi or the Saudi royal family, are in bed with the US and Israel. Egypt’s security forces just recently attacked and deported a mass caravan of North African and international activists trying to break the siege on Gaza. Others, like the Gulf monarchies or Turkey, deploy rhetoric supporting Palestine, but fear protests for Palestine might get out of hand and threaten their own regimes. Palestine solidarity protests were one of the ferments of the Arab Spring/MENA revolutions of 2011–2013. Revolutions in countries across the region could establish workers’ governments that could offerreal, not rhetorical, support to the people of Palestine and Iran. Iran, for its part, has jockeyed into position as a regional power. It has built up allies and proxies that have served the cause of Palestinian liberation at turns, like the Houthis in Yemen, and undermined it at others. Iran and the Lebanese militia it backs, Hezbollah, assisted Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad’s regime in its brutal repression of Palestinians and solidarity with Palestine. Together they flattened the Palestinian refugee camp, Yarmouk, during the Syrian revolution. That enclave was once home to beloved Palestinian activist and just-freed political prisoner Mahmoud Khalil’s mother’s family. Far from leading an “Axis of Resistance,” the Iranian government protects its own interests first and foremost, just like any other capitalist state. In the past decade, Iran has seen massive popular protests and workers’ strikes — and faced severe state repression. Western sanctions have devastated the economy, while the theocratic and military elite loot what they can from it. As Firebrand, we stand with Iran’s exploited and oppressed against their rulers, without falling into the trap of supporting imperialist attacks against Iran. We also reject the US and Israel’s cynical appropriation of the Kurdish slogan “Woman, Life, Freedom” to justify their aggression, as if either had any interest in women’s liberation. Dealing with the theocracy in Iran is up to the Iranian people, not any other state or its bombs. As Iranian poet Sahar Delijani wrote: Yes, the Iranian people have been fighting against a brutal dictatorship for decades. No, that does not in any way justify the blatant, unprovoked act of war committed by Israel against Iranian land and people. As revolutionary socialists in the US, our main enemy is the US empire, including what Netanyahu called a “mighty aircraft carrier of our common civilization,” the Zionist state. Our main slogan — especially as bombs fall on Iran — remains: US and Israel out of the Middle East. Down with imperialism and Zionism. Defeat to the US and Israel.

Zohran Mamdani should also be a good orthodox Trotskyist/one place government, one world government, trade union, democracy, we don’t if the abandonment of dialectics is a class analysis, dialectics is important, and etc supporting fertile free thinking communist/socialist/eusocial being/democratic individual.
Should socialists support Zohran Mamdani? Zohran Mamdani’s victory in the Democratic mayoral primary in New York City has caused excitement on the left due to his democratic-socialist politics and his support for Palestine. Such excitement has historically led to disorientation and disillusionment when reformist Democrats — such as AOC and Brandon Johnson — inevitably betray the left. Revolutionaries must retain our opposition to all Democrats and executives of the capitalist state. by Kenneth G | Jun 26, 2025 The working class in the United States today has hardly anything resembling a real choice when it comes to voting. Practically every election, from the federal level down to the municipal, is just a contest between two openly corporate, pro-capitalist candidates, either a Democrat or a Republican. This means that, when it comes to elections for political office, revolutionaries in the US usually have simple advice for the working class: don’t vote. (We do occasionally weigh in on how to vote on ballot measures.) Occasionally, however, certain politicians create a level of excitement on the left and differentiate themselves from the grey mass of uninspiring corporate hacks. One such politician today is Zohran Mamdani, who yesterday won the primary election to be the Democratic mayoral candidate for New York City. Mamdani is, like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a member of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), and his platform includes some progressive reforms including a rent freeze in New York. He has also achieved acclaim on the left with his support for Palestine — especially his refusal to say he would visit Israel as mayor. The right, on the other hand, has made disgusting racist and Islamophobic attacks on him, branding him as a “jihadist terrorist” and “a radical, antisemitic socialist.” Trump called him “a 100% Communist Lunatic” — something we only wish were true. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Bernie Sanders, who have provided left cover for strikebreaking and genocide in recent years, are prominent examples of this pattern of betrayal. When juxtaposed with every other New York mayoral candidate practically swearing blood oaths to the genocidal settler colony, Mamdani can seem quite inspiring by comparison. But he also holds that Israel has a right to exist — sometimes with qualification, sometimes without — and thus is still fundamentally Zionist. Politicians like Mamdani require special attention for analysis precisely because of the excitement they generate on the left. Workers and the oppressed are very often betrayed by politicians like Mamdani. Ocasio-Cortez and Bernie Sanders, who have provided left cover for strikebreaking and genocide in recent years, are prominent and obvious examples of this pattern, but there are many, many more on this list. Most political tendencies on the left are confused about why this cycle of betrayal happens so often. Even many so-called “Marxists” end up supporting ostensibly progressive candidates who later turn out to be disappointments just like the rest. So how do we identify which candidates deserve our support, and which don’t? The tragedy of Brandon Johnson, or why all Democrats means all Democrats Brandon Johnson’s electoral campaign for mayor of Chicago in 2023 mirrors Zohran Mamdani’s. Both politicians caused a great deal of excitement on the left within their respective cities. Both politicians ran as Democrats, made big, progressive promises, and claimed they were different from the other “corporate” politicians in their party. As the subheader suggests, this is not a good sign for Mamdani’s campaign. Before running for mayor, Johnson was a prominent activist who fought against school closures and later went on to hold the position of Cook County Commissioner as a Democrat. During his mayoral campaign, he initially won over the left by promising progressive taxation on the richest in Chicago to fund mental health clinics, schools, affordable housing, and many other social programs. The enthusiastic support Johnson received from the broad left ultimately ended up winning him the election. What did he do upon entering office? He increased the police budget, unleashed the cops on unhoused people, and evicted migrant families from shelters, all within less than a year of becoming mayor! Despite the claims of the DSA, the Democrats are structurally immune to reform from within and popular, progressive demands. Those who attempt to reform the Democrats usually find themselves reformed instead — from progressive activists into defenders of the status quo. Perhaps more catastrophically, since the Chicago left had largely supported Johnson’s election, they were too confused and divided to oppose his attacks. The reformist elements which had supported him the most defended his actions, lest they admit their political failures. Those unwilling to stomach the betrayal were cut off from their traditional allies. So in the end, the “progressive” Johnson was able to attack Chicago’s working class and oppressed with minimal pushback from the left, where more obviously conservative politicians might have had to face enormous protests. If Mamdani is elected, the results will likely be similar. Johnson’s betrayal was predictable. The main reason is that the Democratic Party is a capitalist party which represents the interests of the US ruling class. Since the economic and political interests of capitalists are diametrically opposed to that of workers, it follows that their political representatives would also be enemies of the working class. This is true of all politicians in the Democratic Party, regardless of their level, position, political rhetoric, or background. The reformist left including the DSA has tried for almost a hundred years to reform the Democratic Party into a socialist or social-democratic party, and they have consistently failed. Despite the claims of the DSA, the Democrats are structurally immune to reform from within and to popular, progressive demands. Those who attempt to reform the Democrats usually find themselves reformed instead — from progressive activists into defenders of the status quo. The real function of politicians like Sanders, Ocasio-Cortez, Johnson, and Mamdani is to confuse and disarm the left. They give the impression that change is possible within the Democratic Party. They provide political cover for the horrible policies of their more openly conservative colleagues — even when that policy is genocide. Most importantly, they divert attention and resources away from efforts to found an independent party, which could actually threaten the status quo. As always when it comes to capitalist political forces, revolutionaries must strive to maintain our political independence. The correct move for the left in Chicago would have been to reject Johnson’s candidacy from the beginning and to point out its fundamentally pro-capitalist nature before he was elected, rather than acting surprised that a Democrat would do what Democrats have historically always done. Regarding Mamdani, the correct move for the left in New York right now would essentially be the same. The office matters too Beyond the fundamentally pro-capitalist, anti-worker nature of the Democratic Party, there is another reason why revolutionaries cannot support Mamdani nor other campaigns like his: he is running for mayor. Revolutionaries should not seek to manage capitalism nor support officials who enforce it. When we debate whether to support a politician of any kind, we must ask ourselves what role that politician is likely to play based on the duties of their elected office. The mayor is the executive of the city government, and is thus tasked primarily with enforcing the law. Considering the laws are written by capitalists and their representatives, this means that in practice, the mayor will enforce the will of the local capitalist class, regardless of their personal feelings on the matter. The mayor also oversees the police, an inherently repressive institution tasked with defending capital and keeping workers and the oppressed in line. The mayor is thus the enemy of the left by their very function, regardless of their campaign’s class background. Revolutionaries should not seek to manage capitalism nor support officials who enforce it. Concretely, this means that in the US, revolutionaries can only potentially support campaigns for legislative office; campaigns in the executive and judicial branches are off limits. The case of Kshama Sawant There are a narrow set of circumstances which permit revolutionaries to critically support certain electoral candidates, even when we have sharp disagreements with them. While there are analogous cases outside of the US, the best local, recent example is that of former Seattle city councillor Kshama Sawant. Sawant was initially elected to Seattle City Council in 2014. She ran as a member of Socialist Alternative, independently of both the Democrats and Republicans. Her campaign was funded by Socialist Alternative’s dues and contributions from ordinary working-class people. While in office, she took only the pay of the median Seattleite and donated the rest of her salary to various working-class causes. At her best, she consistently pushed for more for Seattle’s working class, in particular fighting against the persistent housing and cost-of-living crises the city’s residents have faced. In pushing for these reforms, Sawant refused to collaborate and acquiesce to the other Democrats on the city council. Instead, she drew the class line and exposed the local Democrats for the corporate hacks they really are. In these moments, Sawant demonstrated what it means to be a socialist in office. The many gains that were made by Sawant, including the fight for a $15 minimum wage (back when that meant something), the Amazon Tax and numerous renter protections won her the support of her district’s working class. Despite her campaign’s limited finances and reliance on volunteers, she managed to beat Democrat after Democrat at election, and even defeated a recall election organized by tech billionaires and liberal politicians. The revolutionary left in Seattle generally supported Sawant her whole time in office, and rightfully so. This is because the class basis of her campaign was working class, not capitalist or middle class. Yet, Sawant’s record and politics are still far from desirable for a principled socialist. Notably, she voted to confirm Carmen Best, the police chief who would later go on to brutalize Black Lives Matter protesters with tear gas and rubber bullets. Her position on Palestine is also Zionist since it calls for a two-state solution (a socialist Israel and a socialist Palestine). When she and Socialist Alternative led efforts for reforms, they usually decided the specifics of what the demands would be in advance, and left little space for community engagement. Although both the local media and Sawant herself called her a revolutionary socialist, in reality she was fundamentally a reformist. Despite these issues, the revolutionary left in Seattle generally supported Sawant her whole time in office, and rightfully so. This is because the class basis of her campaign was working class, not capitalist or middle class. Even though her political positions and choices were not always correct, when push came to shove, the movement could push her in the right direction whereas the Democrats remained intransigent. For example, even though Socialist Alternative very erroneously consider cops workers, during the George Floyd Uprising, Sawant was pressured by the movement and ultimately voted to defund the Seattle Police Department by 50 percent. None of the other Democrats on the city council voted in favor of the measure. Sawant’s campaign embodies the elements required for a campaign worthy of the left’s support: independent from and in opposition to the capitalist parties, accountable to the working class, and within the legislative branch. Unfortunately, if we accept these conditions as the bare minimum for what it takes to support a campaign, then we must also accept that the vast majority of politicians are unworthy. This includes politicians like Mamdani and Johnson.

In my fiction/predictive programming, the State of Judea/Zionist Palestine/Zionist West Bank was created. Hamas Palestine/Hamas Gaza refused to be a part of the State of Judea/Zionist Palestine/Zionist West Bank.
Carney calls for “Zionist Palestinian state” In an interview Wednesday Prime Minister Mark Carney said Canada would only accept a “Zionist Palestinian state”. Two week earlier foreign affairs minister Anita Anand described Canada’s “unwavering support for Israel’s security” and next week an RCMP commissioner is set to speak at an event to assuage the concerns of Canadians who’ve fought in Gaza that they may be investigated under Canada’s war crimes legislation. Canadian policy towards Israel is unique. No other faraway state has received a constant flow of Canadians joining its military. No other wealthy faraway country receives a remotely comparable amount of registered charity funds. No other state has a publicly financed special envoy to deflect criticism of its colonial violence or gets Ottawa to send letters threatening the International Criminal Court on its behalf. Nor is there another country in which the government sues to block proper labels on its wines or the Canadian embassy hosts parties for Canadians fighting in its military or the foreign minister says Canada would act as an “asset” for it on the UN Security Council. I’ve written extensively about Canadian governments’ violating international law while professing its importance. In the case of Israel, the duplicity is even more glaring. Our governments have repeatedly failed to uphold Canadian law. The Minister of Justice, Global Affairs, RCMP and other government agencies have ignored their legal responsibilities regarding a genocidal apartheid state. Issuing arms permits to Israel contravenes Canada’s Export and Import Permits Act yet Ottawa refuses to stop the flow of arms. According to the federal government, “Under the Export and Import Permits Act (EIPA), the Minister of Foreign Affairs must deny exports and brokering permit applications for military goods and technology if there is a substantial risk that the items would undermine peace and security, or could be used to commit or facilitate serious violations of international humanitarian and human rights laws.” By any credible account, the Israeli military has long committed “serious violations of international humanitarian and human rights laws.” Israel has launched a series of deadly wars on the besieged population of Gaza (2008, 2014, 2021). It’s also killed over a thousand in the West Bank and beginning in 2013 Israeli forces began bombing Syria on a near weekly basis. Amidst this violence, Global Affairs okayed hundreds of weapons permits. Between 2018-2023 Canadian companies sold around $20 million annually in arms directly to Israel. A significantly larger sum was shipped to Israel as components in US weapon systems, which aren’t reported as per the Defence Production Sharing Agreement that effectively treats Canadian firms as part of the US military industrial base. Ottawa’s response to Israel’s mass killing in Gaza in the fall of 2023 was to expedite permits for arms. In the first two months of Israel’s genocide, Ottawa okayed $28.5 million in weapons transfers, processing permits in as little as four days. After growing protests against arms sales, the government announced that it would halt new weapons permits to Israel. The announcement six months into the genocide didn’t apply to outstanding permits. Despite the announced halt on arms sales, Canada sold $18.9 million in arms directly to Israel in 2024. Shipments of arms from Canada to Israel through the US have also continued. The US Department of Defense announced that a General Dynamics facility in Montreal was contracted to deliver tens of millions of dollars of explosives and artillery propellant to Israel. Additionally, about a hundred firms in Canada produced components for the F-35 fighter jet, which Israel used to bomb Gaza. Successive Ministers of Justice and the RCMP have refused to enforce the Foreign Enlistment Act regarding Israel. The Act states, “Any person who, within Canada, recruits or otherwise induces any person or body of persons to enlist or to accept any commission or engagement in the armed forces of any foreign state or other armed forces operating in that state is guilty of an offence.” At Toronto’s Bnei Akiva school, reported the Canadian Jewish News, “a quarter of graduates” joined the Israeli military. An alumnus of another of the city’s private schools, Shoshana Schwebel explained, “my Zionisthigh school in Toronto literally brought in IDF recruiters multiple times a year to incentivize us to join as teens.” In 2020 a formal legal complaint and public letter signed by numerous prominent individuals were released calling on the federal government to investigate individuals for violating the Foreign Enlistment Act by inducing Canadians to join the Israeli military. The letter pointed out that the Israeli consulate in Toronto advertised on several occasions that an IDF representative was available for personal appointments for those wishing to join the IDF, not just those who are required to do mandatory service. In 2019 the consulate announced, “an IDF representative will conduct personal interviews at the Consulate on November 11-14. Young people who wish to enlist in the IDF or anyone who has not fulfilled their obligations according to the Israeli Defense Service Law are invited to meet with him.” Subsequently, United Jewish Appeal of Greater Toronto and Federation Combined Jewish Appeal Montréal publicized a June 2020 webinar by Nefesh-B’Nefesh titled “Joining the IDF”, which claimed to offer participants “everything you need and want to know about joining the IDF.” The Liberal government effectively ignored the public letter and legal complaint even though it was published on the front page of Le Devoir and thousands emailed the minister on the matter. Then Justice Minister David Lametti responded by simply saying it was up to the police to investigate. For their part, the police refused to seriously investigate even after thousands asked the RCMP to do so. Partly in response to the police’s unwillingness to apply the Foreign Enlistment Act to Israel, a case was launched through a private prosecution against a specific group organizing Canadians to assist the Israeli military. Sar-El Canada brought about 150 Canadians to volunteer on Israeli army bases each year. They maintain the facilities, stock shelves, clean guns and, according to Sar-El, fulfill “routine logistical support tasks normally assigned to active-duty soldiers and reservists.” In 2022 a Justice of the Peace agreed the evidence compiled against Sar-El Canada warranted a hearing. The Crown then took over the case only to dismiss it. The Sar-El case is a stark example of the legal exceptionalism granted Israel in Canada. Another is the unwillingness of the authorities to apply Canada’s Crimes Against Humanity and War Crimes Act. Hundreds of Canadians have joined a military that subjugated Palestinians in the West Bank and slaughtered them wholesale in Gaza. Additionally, many Israeli soldiers have travelled to Canada, including to speak about fighting in Gaza. They should be investigated under Canada’s Crimes Against Humanity and War Crimes Act. As a way to deter Canadians from directly contributing to Israeli violence, Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East asked justice minister Arif Virani in 2024 to “Issue a warning to Canadian nationals that serving or volunteering with the Israeli military may make them criminally liable under the Crimes Against Humanity and War Crimes Act.” Thousands messaged the minister calling on him to investigate Canadians committing war crimes in Gaza. Still, Virani stayed mum even when directly pressed on the matter. While staying quiet on Canadians killing Palestinians, the Liberal government interceded to block a bureaucratic move to properly label wines from illegal Israeli colonies. After David Kattenburg repeatedly complained about inaccurate labels on two wines sold in Ontario, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) notified the Liquor Control Board of Ontario (LCBO) in 2017 that it “would not be acceptable and would be considered misleading” to declare wines produced in the Occupied Palestinian Territories as “products of Israel”. But, immediately after the decision became public the government reversed the advisory and then appealed a judge’s ruling to block accurate labelling of wines produced in the occupied West Bank. Another way Canada enables Palestinians dispossession is a through its terrorist entities list, which may violate Canada’s Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Over 10% of Canada’s terror list is made up of organizations headquartered in a long-occupied land representing one-tenth of one percent of the world’s population. Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine and most other Palestinian political parties are listed organizations, making it an “offence to knowingly participate in or contribute to, directly or indirectly, any activity of” that group. The first ever Canadian-based group added to the terror list was the International Relief Fund for the Afflicted and Needy (IRFAN). A state subsidized registered charity until 2011, IRFAN was designated a terrorist organization in 2014 largely for supporting orphans and a hospital in Gaza through official (Hamas-controlled) channels. They delivered a dialysis machine to a hospital controlled by the health ministry and sent money for orphans through the post office, which was also under Hamas’ authority after the organization took control of Gaza in 2007. A year into Israel’s genocide in Gaza, Samidoun Palestinian Prisoner Solidarity Network was listed a terror organization. No one even claimed the Vancouver based grassroots solidarity organization was involved in violence. They simply claimed Samidoun had “close links with and advances the interests of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine”, which itself had engaged in little armed struggle for decades. Canada’s post 9/11 terror list undermines freedom of association and expression. The arbitrary political tool undercuts due process and standard legal burdens of proof. In essence the government can just list a group and poof it’s a criminal association and near impossible for that organization to seek to be de-listed. Many constitutional experts believe the list is ripe for a Charter challenge. Whether it stands up to legal scrutiny, it’s outrageous that groups like Samidoun, IRFAN and the PFLP were listed while the Israeli military, Likud, Mossad as well as B’nai Brith, the Heseg Foundation for Lone Soldiers and Sar-El haven’t been listed. Another unique form of Canadian assistance to Israel, which often violates the law, are the vast sums raised by registered charities. At the time of publication, 300 Israel-focused organizations raised upwards of a half billion dollars a year. Since the federal government introduced deductions for charities in 1967, $5-10 billion in donations to Israel have been subsidized by taxpayers, costing the public billions of dollars. (Tens of billions of dollars more have been raised by domestically focused pro-Israel charities such the Jewish federations, synagogues and private schools.) While the tax credit for middle class donors generally covers thirty or fifty percent of individual’s contributions, up to 90 percent of donations from the wealthy may be subsidized by all Canadians. The ultra-wealthy create foundations and purchase resource-based flow-through shares, which have added charitable tax credit benefits. Why should all taxpayers subsidize the symphony, a guide dog society, hospitals, etc. of a country with a GDP equal to Canada’s? How many Canadian charities funnel money to Sweden or Japan? Even worse, dozens of registered charities violate the Income Tax Act by supporting the Israeli military, racist organizations, public entities or West Bank colonies. Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) rules state that “increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of Canada’s armed forces is charitable, but supporting the armed forces of another country is not.” Nor are registered charities supposed to assist Israeli colonies in the West Bank since Ottawa officially considers them a violation of international law. CRA rules also preclude assisting public entities abroad and a 2003 CRA policy statement mandated charities to promote racial equality. In a bid to press the CRA to uphold the law, formal complaints have been submitted to the revenue agency detailing how over a dozen charities’ – with over $100 million in annual revenue – violate the rules. In maybe the most egregious example, billionaire power couple Heather Reisman and Gerry Schwartz donated $200 million over twenty years to a charity they established to assist non-Israelis who join that country’s military. In 2005 Reisman and her husband established the HESEG Foundation for Lone Soldiers “to recognize and honor the contribution of Lone Soldiers to Israel.” Heseg Foundation provides scholarships and other forms of support to Torontonians, New Yorkers and other non-Israelis (Lone Soldiers) who join the IDF. At the first Heseg Foundation Grants Awards Ceremony in 2005 Israeli Defence Minister Shaul Mofaz said that “Encouraging and supporting young individuals from abroad” to become lone soldiers “directly supports the morale of the IDF”. Under pressure from campaigners, the CRA revoked the charitable status of the Jewish National Fund of Canada and Ne’eman Foundation in the summer of 2024. While these revocations restored some confidence in the CRA’s ability to apply its rules fairly, it took the agency decades to revoke the Jewish National Fund’s special tax provisions. A law-abiding revenue agency would do far more to curtail illegal subsidies to Israel. When it comes to Israel, forcing Ottawa to simply uphold existing Canadian laws on registered charities, assisting foreign militaries, war crimes and arms sales would be a significant step towards justice.

A Palestinian to a Zionist is lower than a farm animal. A Palestinian is subhuman to them, like pests in your home. Zionist feel this way about all non Jews. Westerners don’t understand these concepts because they try to rationalize Zionist actions with their own moral beliefs without understanding ethnosupremacy ideals of the Israeli people. For comparison this is how White Anglo-Saxons/Christians justified slavery. Black people weren’t viewed as humans, they were viewed as subhuman property. So no the Palestinians cannot embrace Zionist ideology. The level of human suffering in Gaza is intolerable. Yesterday’s announcement that Israel will allow a basic quantity of food into Gaza is wholly inadequate. We call on the Israeli Government to stop its military operations in Gaza and immediately allow humanitarian aid to enter Gaza. This must include engaging with the UN to ensure a return to delivery of aid in line with humanitarian principles. We call on Hamas to release immediately the remaining hostages they have so cruelly held since 7 October 2023. The Israeli Government’s denial of essential humanitarian assistance to the civilian population is unacceptable and risks breaching International Humanitarian Law. We condemn the abhorrent language used recently by members of the Israeli Government, threatening that, in their despair at the destruction of Gaza, civilians will start to relocate. Permanent forced displacement is a breach of international humanitarian law. Israel suffered a heinous attack on October 7. We have always supported Israel’s right to defend Israelis against terrorism. But this escalation is wholly disproportionate. We will not stand by while the Netanyahu Government pursues these egregious actions. If Israel does not cease the renewed military offensive and lift its restrictions on humanitarian aid, we will take further concrete actions in response. We oppose any attempt to expand settlements in the West Bank. Israel must halt settlements which are illegal and undermine the viability of a Palestinian state and the security of both Israelis and Palestinians. We will not hesitate to take further action, including targeted sanctions. We strongly support the efforts led by the United States, Qatar and Egypt to secure an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. It is a ceasefire, the release of all remaining hostages and a long-term political solution that offer the best hope of ending the agony of the hostages and their families, alleviating the suffering of civilians in Gaza, ending Hamas’ control of Gaza and achieving a pathway to a two-state solution, consistent with the goals of the 18 June conference in New York co-chaired by Saudi Arabia and France. These negotiations need to succeed, and we must all work towards the implementation of a two-state solution, which is the only way to bring long-lasting peace and security that both Israelis and Palestinians deserve and ensure long-term stability in the region. We will continue to work with the Palestinian Authority, regional partners, Israel and the United States to finalize consensus on arrangements for Gaza’s future, building on the Arab plan. We affirm the important role of the High-level Two-State Solution Conference at the UN in June in building international consensus around this aim. And we are committed to recognizing a Palestinian state as a contribution to achieving a two-state solution and are prepared to work with others to this end." Now we are mostly Christians and Jews and Muslims. Carney has no option but to occasionally speak about this stuff as the leader of a nation representing a diverse diaspora. Canadians have strong feelings about the religious wars in the middle east, because many of us feel kinships to one religion or another and view this conflict through that lens. Maybe he would gladly never speak about it if that was an option. But now we see another effective genocide taking place, and many Canadians want to see what our leaders have to say about it. That being said, ALL of our leaders serve our capitalists. They all use religion, but it is always about capitalism. If it wasn't profitable for Israel to do the terrible things they are doing, they wouldn't do it. Look at how Trump, for example, thought it OK to bomb Iran to force them into accepting his denuclearization deal. This is a common refrain in Western politics that's rooted in racism. Notice that the West doesn't treat Russia that way or any other European state. We never try to "force" Russia to do anything. Edit: I see a lot of responses mentioning nukes as a deterrent and that's true only for Russia though. Why is it that Western powers don't "force" other Western European/Caucasian nations into regime change or denuclearization? Why is immigration from Canada ok, but not from Mexico? Why is immigration from Ukraine ok but not from Syria? Why is it OK for Israel to violate every law in the book, but wrong for other nations like China (with Thailand), for example? I know a lot of people feel hurt or get defensive when the infamous "r" word gets mentioned but actions speak louder than words. It's very clear that countries with non-white populations are treated differently than those that have them. Genius-level diplomacy — nothing says “independence” like forcing the oppressed to adopt the ideology of their oppressors. Absolutely idiotic, but said with confidence, you have to give him that. State of Judea/Zionist Palestine/Zionist West Bank The State of Judea/Zionist Palestine/Zionist West Bank is a proposed halachic state in the West Bank put forward by Israeli Jewish settlers. After the Palestine Liberation Organization declared the existence of a Palestinian state in 1988, some settler activists feared that international pressure would lead Israel to withdraw from the West Bank and sought to lay the groundwork for an Orthodox Jewish state in the West Bank if this came to pass. The establishment of this state was announced in a Jerusalem hotel on December 27, 1988. Wikipedia

r/LateStageCapitalism • 1 hr. ago No_Pollution_2897 Supreme Court guts judges power to stop Trump nationwide 📰 News In an alarming 6–3 ruling, the Supreme Court just made it harder for federal judges to issue nationwide injunctions, the very tool often used to stop unconstitutional executive actions in their tracks. This comes as Trump pushes to end birthright citizenship, and now, lower courts may no longer be able to block such moves across the country. It’s a massive shift in power toward the presidency, limiting one of the last fast-acting checks on executive overreach. If you're worried about authoritarian drift, this decision should raise every red flag. https://www.nprorg/2025/06/27/nx-s1-5435786/scotus-birthright-citizenship-universal-injunctions Upvote 615 Downvote 23 Go to comments Share

(yes, they all serve the bouge). I skimmed the syllabus and it appears this is a jurisdictional question the court is answering not the actual aubstantive question of "who gets citizenship". I don't care to read the case per se. Peeps should really get their heads around the reality that "Rights" are not rights at all if they can be taken away. Only those in power have any "rights" at all. Those who are ruled have permissions, and those permissions may be revoked at any time the ruling class feels it suits their whims. "Rights" under bourgeois tyranny are as sound as tissue paper close to a bonfire. Upvote 149 Downvote Reply reply Share Share fearabolitionist • 1h ago Yikes!
